Grinders are not the same as sand mills in terms of grinding principles, grinding fineness, and application fields. The stirred mill has low grinding efficiency and wide product particle size distribution due to its low rotating speed, large medium size and large change of radial velocity gradient along the pin bar. Therefore, stirring mills are gradually being squeezed out of the market by sand mills and are now only used for grinding hard alloys, ferrite or pre grinding.

The sand grinder can be divided into vertical and horizontal types depending on the installation form, and can be divided into disc type, rod type, and convex block type according to the grinding element type. The structural and operational parameters of a sand mill are to grind the material and separate it from the grinding medium. The structural parameters are inherent to the sand mill itself (determined by the manufacturer), while its operating parameters are controlled by operators in actual production (users). The material selection of the sand mill is crucial for the quality of the processed products.
