Technical data and selection method of O-ring seals

O-shaped sealing ring is a rubber ring with a circular cross-section, which is called an O-shaped sealing ring due to its O-shaped cross-section. It is widely used in hydraulic and pneumatic transmission systems. Usually referred to as ORING in Taiwanese and Japanese enterprises.

O-shaped sealing ring is a circular rubber sealing ring with a circular cross-section. It is mainly used to prevent the leakage of liquid and gas media in mechanical components under static conditions. In some cases, O-shaped sealing ring can also be used as a dynamic sealing element for axial reciprocating motion and low-speed rotational motion. According to different conditions, different materials can be selected to adapt to it

When selecting O-ring seals, it is recommended to choose O-rings with a large cross-section as much as possible. Under the same gap, the volume of O-ring seals squeezed into the gap should be less than the allowable value.

The company's technical personnel introduced that for different types of fixed or dynamic sealing applications, the O-ring provides designers with an effective and economical sealing element. O-ring is a bidirectional sealing element. The initial compression in the radial or axial direction during installation endows the O-ring with its own initial sealing ability. The sealing force generated by system pressure and the initial sealing force combine to form the total sealing force, which increases with the increase of system pressure. The O-ring plays a prominent role in static sealing situations. However, in dynamic and appropriate situations, O-rings are often used, but they are limited by the speed and pressure at the sealing point.

The reciprocating speed can reach 0.5m/s in static situations

When there is no retaining ring, the pressure can reach 20mpa and the rotation speed can reach 2.0m/s

When there is a retaining ring, the pressure can reach 40mpa

Medium and temperature:

When there is a special retaining ring, the pressure can reach 200mpa, as shown in the "Raw Material Characteristics Table of Rubber Seals"

Dynamic pressure

Compression amount:

When there is no retaining ring, the reciprocating motion can reach 5mpa. Static seal: 20% of the diameter of the O-ring

When there is a retaining ring, high pressure dynamic sealing: 30% of the diameter of the O-ring
