Horizontal sand mills need to be used in conjunction with grinding media to achieve excellent grinding results. In terms of grinding media, in addition to its own performance, the control of dosage is also crucial. The excessive or insufficient use of grinding media will be detrimental to the effectiveness of the horizontal sand mill, reducing its grinding and dispersing effects. Based on past experience, the amount of grinding medium equipped in a horizontal grinder is mainly related to factors such as the viscosity and temperature of the abrasive. When the viscosity of the abrasive is high, the amount used can be appropriately reduced; On the contrary, it is possible to slightly increase the amount of grinding medium.
In fact, the amount of grinding medium used in a horizontal sand mill can be experimentally determined. Firstly, the volume of the grinding medium is set at 80% of the volume of the horizontal sand mill cylinder, and then the amount of grinding medium is reasonably increased or decreased based on the discharge temperature of the material or the temperature of the cooling water.
Generally speaking, when the temperature exceeds the allowable range, the amount of grinding medium used should be reduced; When the temperature is below the range, the amount of grinding medium can be added before adding the shaft speed. The abrasive discharge temperature value involved here is 50-70 ℃, which serves as the basis for measuring the amount of medium in a horizontal grinder.
But if it is a vertical sand mill, its grinding medium is not these anymore. Initially, it will be controlled at more than half of the cylinder volume, and then gradually increase to make it large enough to make the medium pile up on the surface of the cylinder just right. But in this process, it is necessary to consider the conveying speed of the abrasive. If the speed of abrasive feeding into the cylinder is fast, the turnover of the medium will be higher, so the amount of medium used should be appropriately reduced.
In addition to strict control of dosage, it is necessary for the abrasive entering the sand mill to be pre dispersed well in order to maximize the efficiency of the sand mill, increase its shear force, improve its grinding and dispersion effects, and bring better benefits to customers.
